No clothes dryers were found in Europe & the clothes washer is in the kitchen
During our first six month trip many cultural differences were certainly expected between the United States and Europe, including the UK. However, here is a list of some differences which were unexpected, many pleasantly so.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota requires the visitor to search for beauty within the 36 mile vehicle loop, unlike some of the more spectacular national parks such as Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon or Zion. On any random visit, a lucky visitor might possibly be blessed with stormy rain clouds, clearing storms or special light. More typically, on a hot clear blue sky day, you must really search for the attractiveness of the park.

Sheep are a major part of the economy throughout the British Isles. Mile after mile of thick, sturdy and ancient rock walls attempt to contain the sheep in pastures, but inevitably they get out onto the roads. Since more than one sheep owner might use the same pasture, the sheep are spray painted with bright colors and designs to designate the rightful owner. Sheep dogs are an important part of any sheep raising operation. While in the Lake District of England we went to what we would call a county fair and watched all matters involving sheep. There were prizes awarded for the best made sheep staff or ‘crook’, sheep herding contests with sheep dogs taking whistled commands from their owners and sheep shearing demonstrations.
